Due to high levels of accountability and an intense period of change at Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5, many secondary school English departments have, understandably, neglected Key Stage 3 in recent years.

This session will explain how and why Sallie became passionate about the importance of a knowledge rich KS3 English curriculum. Sallie will share how Bedford Free School approached reviewing and re-designing the KS3 English curriculum, outlining the key reading and research that has influenced our planning, how we made choices, dealt with problems and mistakes, and how we continue to work together to review, refine, and resource our curriculum.
