Strand 01: SEND, Support and Safeguarding ROOM 227 | 10:45 to 11:30

Carrie Jolley, Humanities Teacher, Prince William School

Having a child not speaking in a classroom may seem like a dream some days, but the reality of supporting such a student is a challenge. Selective mutism affects around 1 in 800 people and can be difficult to understand. This session aims to clarify what selective mutism is, as well as offering strategies that can be put to use in the classroom environment and beyond.
