This session will share the findings from a landmark research project involving the University of Nottingham, the Royal Shakespeare Company and Tate. The study set out to understand the views and opinions of young people towards arts subjects in schools. It analysed 6,000 responses from 14 – 18-year olds over three years and is the largest piece of research of its kind. We have called the study findings Time to Listen and this session will share the common themes that emerged from it as well as explore the principles that underpin an ’arts rich’ school. What does it take to become one and why does it matter to teachers and young people that schools are arts rich?
